Questions and Answers

Can I pay with my credit card?
Yes! and paying online is a highly secure method of shopping at Alarms-for-Farms. It is completely secure and we wouldn't have it any other way. We guarantee every transaction you make at Alarms-for-Farms is safe. This means you pay nothing if unauthorized charges are made to your card as a result of shopping at Alarms-for-Farms Online.

Do I need a specialist to install my new security system?
No! all the systems are wireless so installing them is a piece of cake. The sensors simply screw into position, and the receivers plug into any handy mains socket.

Can I arrange to have someone to fit it for me?
Most farms have an electrician they routinely use. If you really don't fancy installing it yourself (and it really is very simple), it's highly unlikely he would have any problem with any of our equipment.

What does PIR mean?
Passive infra-red. Rather than emitting an infra-red beam, the sensor detects the infra-red radiation (i.e. heat) emitted by your body or your car's engine

How easy is it to get spare parts for repairs?
Everything is guaranteed for two years. In the unlikely event of a problem developing, call us and we'll diagnose the fault and tell you which part, if any, you need to return for repair or replacement. Again, the wireless nature of the systems makes this straight forward.

Can I disarm the sensors during the day?
The systems are armed and disarmed at the receiver. The sensors are always active.

How long do the batteries last?
Sensor batteries last typically 9 - 12 months. They it takes only a couple of minutes to replace them, and on the 8 and 14-channel receivers low sensor-battery warning is provided

What about false alarms?
Providing the sensors are sited according to the instructions, false alarms will be virtually non-existent. Obviously cows and horses will trigger the sensors, but then you wouldn't locate a sensor where cows or horses are supposed to be!

What affects the transmitting range of the sensors?
Thick stone wall will cut the range a bit. Woodland will have a small affect.
