Company History
Alarms for Farms was founded in 1994 by electronics graduate Damon Rodwell, and for three years serviced the farms within a 100-mile radius of our Gloucester base.
A move to southern Scotland in 1997 and the advent of the internet saw an increase in the mail-order side of the business, and our product range steadily evolved, mainly driven by requests and ideas from the farming community.
We now have the most comprehensive range of specialist farm security equipment on the UK market. Our products can be divided into three areas: External Wireless Perimeter Protection; Wireless CCTV and GSM-based stand-alone systems.
Widely regarded as the UK market-leader, we offer a next-day nationwide delivery service. Among our customers are several UK police forces and a clutch of blue-chip organisations outside the farming industry who are attracted by the superb reliability and rugged construction of our perimeter protection systems. These include Ford Motor Company, The London Eye and Laing O'Rourke
We also export, and have customers in the USA, France, Denmark and Germany and as far afield as Moldova and Romania.
Our core business, though, remains the UK farming community, and we are committed to helping in the fight against the scourge of rural crime.
This site has been developed for us by MM Solutions of Glasgow. It was designed in such a clever fashion that even our notoriously computer-hostile founder can keep it updated with new products and prices - no mean feat we can assure you! For further information visit www.mmsolutions.org.uk.
Client Testimonials
It’s absolutely brilliant
It sounds silly, but it’s changed our lives. It’s the best thing that’s ever happened to us! It’s saved us from being broken into at 4 a.m., when the system went off and we crept out to find them breaking into our barn. We were almost on them when they scarpered. You’ve never seen anyone run so fast. They come with a lorry, you know. The neighbours were cleaned out.
It’s wonderful Back to top
Knowing when anyone comes through the main gate, day or night. It has worked extremely well for us. We keep your number on a piece of paper in the kitchen. I’ve lost count of the number of people we’ve given it to. Mrs. M., Cheshire
A very rare but fantastic service Back to top
Just a note thanking you for your assistance in my search for a sufficient camera system for foaling. With the help of the Yagi antennae we have a perfect picture from the barn to the house and no problematic wiring!! Not only did you send the system by next day delivery you further posted a second different unit for trial by next day delivery too. A very rare but fantastic service! Our colt foal was born late Wednesday night and all went well. Mrs. Sharon N. Horse-owner .
Thank you so muchBack to top of page
Your rapid response and excellent handling of my order (including follow-up) was way above the norm. Thank you so much. If there were a public grading system for good service then you would be at the top. R.O., Dorset
Sensible experienced advice Back to top
Alarms for Farms gave me the correct product for my requirements. Sensible experienced advice. Its installation and working couldnt be simpler, and it has fulfilled its objective perfectly. P. S., Saintfield, Northern Ireland
I was very impressed Back to top
I fitted the system due to problems across the back of my fields. I was looking for a system that does not involve too much wiring either in the house or in the fields. I was very impressed with the information I received on the telephone and subsequently by post. The kit arrives by post with clear, comprehensive instructions. I started with 3 PIR sensors, and now have 6, with a maximum of 14 zones on the control panel.
It is a simple job.. Back to top
The use of the long-range receiving antenna gives me a range of 1.25 miles. The system is mainly switched on at night so the 14-zone receiver unit is situated in the bedroom, and the siren can be heard around the house during the day without any additional kit. The real beauty of the system is its ease of installation and its flexibility; it can be expanded as the need arises, and it is a simple job to move sensors from place to place to protect different areas of the farm at different times of the year.
I left a message ordering an additional sensor at 11p.m. after returning home from a CountrysideWatch meeting, and had a phonecall at 8 a.m. the following day telling me that the equipment had been dispatched.
Customer service is excellent Back to top
The customer service both before and after sale is excellent, and the system itself does exactly what I needed. I couldnt be more satisfied with it. I definitely sleep easier in my bed at night! Farmer T.H., Cambridgeshire

Recently released, and flying off the shelves is our state-of-the-art range of GSM-based alarm systems for instant stand-alone remote monitoring. These compliment our award-winning FarmGuard external alarm system perfectly. Our GSM equipment allows you to signal instantly to a selection of mobile phones when an intrusion is detected, and the clever bit is that no landline is required. Yet another trail-blazing wireless solution from the UK market-leader.
